Fuel sits in the cylindrical reservoir up front, with oil held in the seat ‘cowl.’ Custom upholstery from Atelier Cherry adds to the period-correct look.ĭouble Trouble’s finished off with a narrow set of custom drag bars, with a 1970s H-D tacho out front. Kentaro installed a pair of Airheart brakes up front, with a Wilwood brake out back.Īll of the bodywork was fabricated in aluminum, from scratch. There’s a set of early 70s Ducati Imola forks up front, with 18” rims at both ends wrapped in M&H drag slicks. The whole arrangement is housed in a custom hardtail frame, fabricated from steel tubing. The transmission’s a four-speed from a 1980s Big Twin and Kentaro has set the timing of the two motors so that they go ‘potato potato’ at idle, but scream at high revs. The two V-twins are linked by connecting plates, and their output shafts are connected to two separate primaries. Kentaro’s friend Kazuhiro Takahashi of Sakai Boring helped rebuild the engines. Both run with S&S Super B carbs, fitted with custom velocity stacks. ‘Double Trouble’ uses a 1969 Ironhead in front, with an older engine at the rear. Unsurprisingly, it picked up two awards at the show-from the top Japanese mags, Hot Bike and Vibes. Using two Sportster XLCH engines, Nakano-san built the monster as a tribute to the drag racers of the 70s. Hot Chop Speed Shop Here’s another bike that stopped visitors to the 2018 Mooneyes event dead in their tracks: a twin-engined Harley drag bike by Kentaro Nakano at Hot Chop Speed Shop in Kyoto. Hide’s Ironhead blends vintage speedway and flat track styles together to create a minimalistic and impossibly cool machine. The paint’s extra classy too-a 1930s Harley scheme laid down by Skop Paint Works. Swept back bars and a pair of beautifully-bent nickel-plated exhausts add to the vintage vibe. The rear fender’s been scalped from a vintage Harley FX Super Glide, then modified to suit. Hideya fabricated the aluminum headlight nacelle and fuel tank, and built the oil tank. The Harley rolls on 21F/18R wheels with drum brakes. Hideya kept the original steering head, triples and forks, but added custom sleeves. The motor sits in a scratch-built nickel-plated hardtail frame, with the OEM frame number plate grafted on. ![]() “As always, I cherish the balance, and maximize the beauty,” says Hideya. But the rest of it is mostly is custom, and it was built without any specific style or theme in mind. The bike’s built around an original but refurbished 1966 XLCH motor, complete with a Linkert DC-7 carb. I though that maybe my peripheral vision is more “sensitive” to FPS, and that’s why I see some “jumping” instead of a smooth motion on intense parts. ASW makes it feel as “something is off, though not sure what this is”. Interestingly, ASW actually played a negative role here by masking the issue - I suspect I’d immediately notice this without ASW. You can prove it by constraining it to 3–4 cores & pinning something else stealing the CPU time to the same cores - once you get 30 … 40 FPS, you’ll see lots of false misses. the larger % of missed frames, the more likely Beat Saber is to classify an actual hit as a miss. It feels almost as ~ you play songs on maybe 5–10% lower speed moreover, I understood that this FPS drop was actually the reason of some % of false misses - i.e. The issue manifests itself quite similarly both on 24-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960x and on 6-core Intel Core I7–8700K, though the problem is a bit less pronounced on the later.Īs for the actual impact, fixing the issue made a very substantial difference for me. Pinning to 5+ cores seems to make things worse - the more cores you give after 4, the further it creeps back to 15ms+ territory. If you pin it to just 2 cores, the game itself feels fine, but there are noticeable periods of “freezing” in menus.App timings are the smallest ones when you pin the process to 2.4 different physical cores.I experimented with a few different options for CPU affinity, and: allows the game to render ~ up to 400 FPS. Overall, this workaround drops application timings from 15–17ms to 2.2–2.7ms in my case, i.e. In addition, it makes sense to set the priority of Beat Saber process to High. That’s nearly how it should look in Task Manager: You need to pin Beat Saber process to 4 different physical cores “physical” means you shouldn’t pin it to the virtual/hyperthreaded cores sharing the same physical hardware.Luckily, my very first rain dance (apparently, experience matters even if you do a rain dance!) in an attempt to address this brought exactly what I needed: And somehow Ryzen 3960x consuming 6.13W per core is not enough for it. ![]() But how, if that’s a 24-core monster? Moreover, the game runs smoothly on Oculus Quest delivering ~ same 75 FPS there relying on Snapdragon 835 with its ~ 3.5W of total power consumption.

The world isn’t very large and it’s locked down to keep the player focused, but there’s a lot hidden in its nooks and crannies. The starkest difference is that, rather than have you simply choose your next destination using a standard node-based world map, you’re left to explore from a top-down perspective, similar to the previously discussed Zelda II. Many of the mechanics and the narrative have been incorporated into the remake, but everything has been lifted up and expanded on. Phoenotopia Awakening is technically a remake of a Newgrounds Flash game from 2014. The result is something that is markedly different than Zelda II, even if you can easily see its foundation, and I couldn’t be happier for that. It wears its Zelda influences on its sleeve, but also layers on its own fantastic personality. Phoenotopia Awakening seems to have latched onto that misunderstood title and squeezed it for all it was worth.
